Planning a wedding with Jenna and Weston was a complete breeze. Jenna was very thorough and organized, and she knew what she wanted, which made our decision making easier! Funny enough, these two had been to so many weddings before their own that they deserve their own spot in the Guiness Book of World Records, so they had ample weddings to discuss and pull from when it came to nail down what they wanted (and didn’t want). They chose to hire us as their wedding planner so they could easily execute the wedding they were envisioning, and pulling it off without a hitch.
Jenna and Weston wanted to choose a meaningful venue, a reception venue with guest accommodations nearby, and they wanted a beautiful, cozy winter wedding in the snowy Wisconsin Northwoods. We were onboard from the start! We loved Jenna’s choice of design, complete with the rich green, snowy white, and lovely details.

Photographer Flip
When Heather Collins Photography got sick, that meant that she wasn’t able to be the photographer for Jenna and Weston’s wedding like we thought! This is where the magic of the wedding world comes in. Heather was able to secure Amy Jakubowski Photography as a pinch hitter, and she photographed the day in Heather’s place. This teamwork was such a tremendous reminder that we need to have strong relationships in the wedding service world, because you never know when something unexpected will happen and you need to call out for help! Amy did such a beautiful job with the photography.
First of all, I got to do one of the most goofy first looks, designed by the bride, to get out any nerves that might be lingering in her groom! When it was time for the first look, located at a gorgeous family home in the Northwoods, Jenna roped Marsha into helping her pull a prank on Weston. We got one of his groomsmen dressed in a wedding dress, and when Weston thought it was finally time to see his beautiful, long-awaited bride, who came around the corner? Not her!
Once the nerves were out and Weston had a laugh, it was time for the REAL first look. Jenna and Weston are both such tremendously kind people and they absolutely deserve each other. It was sweet getting to be a fly on the wall as they had their first look!
Logistics in the Northwoods
Moving the wedding party and guests from location to location took some brainpower and coordination! The guests stayed in Rhinelander and were shuttled on a coach bus to the ceremony site in nearby Laona. Following the ceremony, the coaches transported everyone to the reception site, and then to hotels later.
As for the wedding party and the bride and groom, they had some logistics of their own. Jenna and Weston centered their wedding day around being able to take photos with their beloved dogs, which meant that they needed to have a separate ride out to their house to include the dogs in their wedding day. That extra step was so worth it for Jenna and Weston, because they got to involve their fur babies in the best day of their lives! Following those photos, the wedding party drove to a northern resort to take pictures out on a snowy lake.
3 Generations Married at the Same Church
Jenna and Weston chose to follow in the family tradition of getting married at St. Leonard Church in Laona, Wisconsin, which made them the third generation to get married there! This beautiful catholic church is also where Jenna’s parents and grandparents tied the knot, and it was so special that she and Weston were able to continue the family legacy there. She also grew up at this church, and gosh, is it authentic, lovely, stunning!
Reception Space at The Pines
The Pines was purchased as a former church and converted into a wedding venue, and it was a beautiful location for Jenna and Weston’s reception. We loved that they chose to have an audio guest book at their reception, where guests could call into a phone and leave a message for the happy couple to listen to later. It’s a time capsule in a way, and a very special one at that! They also chose to have the guests use a fishing pole and successfully drop it into a bucket in order for Jenna and Weston to kiss – perfect for this fisherman, Mr. Weston.
Their wedding reception just went so smoothly, and the A-Team of wedding vendors all did such a tremendous job executing this wedding so beautifully. To see the website of each vendor, click on the vendor’s name.
Jenna and Weston, it was a complete delight to plan your wedding. You were so easy to work with, I just loved the vision for your wedding, and I enjoyed our time together! Your design choices were spot on, and your day was beautiful. What an honor to plan it with you. We hope your first year of marriage has been as beautiful and joyful as your wedding day, or even better!
All our love,
