Jessica and Adam planned a micro wedding at a VRBO property for their 25 closest people, and they paid attention to every detail, making sure that their wedding day was beautiful, memorable, and full of surprises for their guests. And boy, was it perfect!

Planning with a VRBO was simple. Just like any wedding venue, there are rules for having a wedding at a VRBO property, though with this particular VRBO property, Tom was a delight to work with, had very simple guidelines for us, and was a lovely partner in bringing this wedding vision to life. Thank you Tom!! We would go back to that venue in a heartbeat.
Since the VRBO house was not originally designed to be a wedding venue, we had to be creative to make accommodations to turn it into a wedding venue, and we were happy to bring those skills to the table. We coordinated all the STUFF that is needed at a wedding, like tables and chairs, linens, garbage cans, and all the basics to make the home feel like a wedding venue. On the day before the wedding, we took plenty of time to set everything up and make sure that it felt ready and beautiful.
Starting off with their choice of florals, they hired Something Borrowed Blooms. We had never worked with this company before, but now that we have, we will recommend it to future couples! They deliver lovely silk flowers right to your door, and the finished product was beautiful. After the wedding, you put the flowers back in the box and send them back, leaving little to no waste from the wedding florals. We love this sustainable choice! Plus, it was fairly inexpensive.
The ceremony took place in the backyard overlooking Lake Michigan, and boy was it lovely! After the ceremony, cocktails were served in the front yard to give our team time to flip the ceremony space into the reception space, complete with the dance floor cleared of chairs, and dinner seating set up on the back patio. What a charming venue!
The backyard wedding venue of this VRBO property was so magical. There was space for us to create a walking tour of Jessica & Adam’s relationship in pictures, there was space for cocktails on the back deck, yard games, a food truck, dancing, campfire – you name it. This reception had it all.
And a quick mention of Wild Fire Pizza – what a fabulous food truck. Their pizza was DELICIOUS, and the talk of the night! Jessica and Adam also chose to have their favorite dessert, cinnamon rolls, instead of a wedding cake.
The dance floor was just beautiful. We turned the ceremony space on the dock into a dance floor, complete with strings of lights and great music. How magical to dance overlooking the lake! Jessica and Adam surprised all the guests by giving them sweat suits as a gift, so the end of the night was a cozy celebration with all their special people. We loved this touch, especially when it was time for the bonfire. Cozy on cozy.
This was a full wedding planning client, which was a blast, because we basically were able to work with all our friends. What a delight! We assisted in choosing the vendors for Jessica and Adam, so we knew the quality that was on our team, and they certainly delivered.
