Somehow 20 years have flown by, and Steve and I celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary. I mean, where has time gone??? Wow, the last 20 years have had the good, the bad, and the ugly, but we are still standing, and somehow love each other more than the day we said I do. Now I could probably write a book on the last 20 years, what I have learned from being a wife  but today we are going to chat about our wedding day. 🙂

It makes me so happy to think about that day, remember that day, and relive it. Steve surprised me by singing to me at our ceremony.  I didn’t cry…everyone else did 🙂…our ceremony music will always be a treasured part of the day for us.

Also, a favorite memory from the day was our dance reception. We danced ALL night with our friends and family which was exactly what we wanted. We were asked many times when we are having another wedding because everyone had such a great time.

I don’t have many regrets about our wedding or things we did for our wedding but my one regret is not doing a “First Look”.  It really wasn’t something we even considered or was something you did at that time. It was a special moment when I walked down the aisle, but in reality I was so nervous I don’t think I really allowed myself to be in the moment because of the nerves. We were also pressed for time after the ceremony so we don’t have many photos of just us.  In addition, we did end up being late to the dinner reception, which our guests were already eating when we arrived. Oh…well!

The biggest changes in weddings I have seen since our wedding, and entering the industry 15 years ago, has been the ebb and flow of formal vs. informal, church weddings vs. everything in one location, and the rise of barn style venues. We have also seen that the “First Look” has become very popular. Style and trends change from year to year as all industries tend to do.

Our wedding was really the catalyst for my entry into the wedding and event industry. While I can’t believe 20 years have gone by, I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years bring for The VanArks. Thanks for reminiscing with me!
