Shannon and Michael are a riot. We knew as soon as we began our planning journey with them that their wedding would be TONS of fun, since they are! We are so excited to share about their private property wedding in Hancock, Wisconsin with you. Let’s kick it off with their wedding video, beautifully done by Beau Petersen Video Productions. Beau took care of the photography and videography for this wedding and did such a fabulous job!
The vision.
Shannon and Michael chose to have their wedding at a very special home, owned by Shannon’s parents, and built by her grandfather. Not only is this special spot important to her family, but also to both Shannon & Michael – it’s where Mike said ‘I love you’ for the first time, and where he proposed! In memory of Shannon’s beloved grandparents who have both passed away, their family home (with all its rich history!) was a no-brainer venue for this awesome wedding.
Their wedding date (September 2, 2023) was also chosen on purpose. In honor of Mike’s grandparents, Lori and Lenny, September 2 was chosen -which is also BOTH of their birthdays, AND their wedding anniversary. They were both in attendance, and they were able to sing happy birthday to both of them. They mean so much to the couple, and choosing this wedding date was such a special way to honor them both!
When it came to choosing a vibe, these two were ready. Shannon & Michael wanted their wedding to feel woodsy, intimate and intimate, and they wanted sunflowers to be everywhere! Sunflowers are special to the couple – their engagement photos were taken in a sunflower field. They had sunflower touches in the decor, the print material, and even on the bride’s shoes, just to name a few. The rust velvet dresses on the bridesmaids made for cozy and luxe bridesmaids in the woods and we love how it all turned out in the end.
The Ceremony
Shannon’s uncle surprised the couple by designing their entire ceremony space in the private land in the woods, and he did such a terrific job! Another uncle of the Bride surprised them with floral decor and centerpieces, and their friend/bridesmaid created all the wooden signs for the day. When it came to carrying out the design, it was such a team effort.
Originally, Shannon and Michael were going to have their ceremony in the front yard, but after Marsha saw the 5 acres in the woods with the beautiful landscape, she suggested to do it there. Shannon’s family got to work clearing land and getting the space ready, and it turned out beautifully!
The Reception
Not only was this private land full of family memories and special meaning, and the woods were perfect for the ceremony, the reception on the tennis court was a no brainer. They chose to have a clear tent so that guests could see the trees surrounding, and Party Envy did such a great job making that vision come to life!
