We had the good fortune to plan and celebrate with some amazing wedding couples and their friends & families this year. It was a full year! We continued to lead our local Wedding Pro Connect group of 53 wedding professionals as well as writing for our local publication of Point & Plover. I experienced some career highs (speaking at Mid-State Technical College and being invited to sit on their Advisory Board for 2020) and personal lows (losing our neighbor, Marian, of 20+ years and my Mom’s open heart surgery), yet all the while, Distinctly Yours Wedding & Events journeyed on. We look back at the year with a lot of gratitude and a lot of love. Here’s our Year in Review 2019!
We completed the very end of 2018 with Natalie & Quest’s holiday wedding at Bull’s Eye Country Club in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin (now open to weddings for non-members, too). I had the pleasure of working with the bride, Natalie, as a wedding musician for years, so it was such an honor to be part of her wedding day. Of course, music for Natalie & Quest’s ceremony was amazing! They had a full choir for their wedding processional in the most beautiful Catholic church, Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
In May, we began our 2019 wedding season with the fantastic wedding of Jenny & Andy at Eron’s Event Barn in Stevens Point, Wisconsin (where we are honored to be on their Preferred Planners list). Everything came together beautifully with only 3 months in total planning. Their spring wedding was heartfelt and a true tribute to Andy’s service as a firefighter.
June brought with it some very wet weather (Rain! Lots of rain!) and a full month of weddings. Fortunately, it poured rain on the set-up/rehearsal days, but the clouds cleared perfectly for each wedding day. Amazing! Thank you, Mother Nature!
For the first two weekends of June, we traveled to the deep, deep north woods of Eagle River, Wisconsin.
Our first Northwood’s wedding was Clare & Tom’s family cabin in the woods wedding. We had some challenges to create a wedding venue in the deep woods. However as remote it was, it all came together beautifully! You can read about their experience with us below.
Next we traveled back to Eagle River, Wisconsin to the Wild Eagle Lodge Resort for Carlye & Nick’s destination wedding. Carlye & Nick’s was a full wedding weekend for all their out-of-town friends & family. Their wedding entertainment, Felix & Fingers (Dueling Piano Entertainment), traveled all the way from Chicago to give us the best entertainment we have ever seen. In July, we returned to one of our favorite and most frequented venues in the Stevens Point area at the Grand Hall @ SentryWorld for a super fun wedding for Melanie & Steve! We loved their fun and welcoming approach to designing their day. And, we love being back at SentryWorld, where we are proud to be on the Preferred Planner list for years now! In August, we headed out to the Caribou Bay Retreat Center in Coloma, Wisconsin for Nichole & Andy’s destination 3-day wedding weekend. Caribou Bay is quite possibly our favorite venue for destination weddings. Caribou Bay provided a gorgeous venue for the whole wedding weekend. Distinctly Yours Wedding & Events is honored to be a Preferred Planner at this beautiful venue. Here is a beautiful photo collage to give a taste of this place.
We ended August at another one of our favorite venues, The Rothschild Pavilion, and are proud to be a Preferred Planner at this rich historical venue. The wedding was for our very own wedding assistant Alex and her groom, Ryan. Their day went so smoothly with a complete room flip from ceremony to reception for 200pp in 45 minutes. Their wedding was stylish, heartfelt, and a complete dance party! One of the best bands we have heard this year!
In September, we found our team at the farm of Katelyn & Ryan (literally in a corn field). Katelyn & Ryan had been grooming their farm for their wedding day for two years. Lots of rain leading up to the wedding, but didn’t stop this amazing wedding from happening! This wedding was perfectly designed by them and it was an honor to be part of such an amazing event. Next, we traveled back to Wausau for Mariah & Aaron’s wedding in mid-September with 3 different wedding venues in downtown with 3 short weeks to plan. It all came together successfully and again the weather’s timing was perfect as the ceremony at the Stewart Park & cocktails location at the Yawkey Garden Museum were outside. Whew! Distinctly Yours Wedding & Events is honored to be a Preferred Planner at their beautiful reception venue at The Grand Theater in Wausau.
To finish September, we traveled to Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wisconsin for Heather and Stephen’s wedding. It has become one of our new favorite venues. It was an absolutely amazing, unique, and heartfelt wedding that was the highlight of our year! Here is a video of the day with a full firework display to finish our wedding season with a bang! To finish our 2019 wedding season in December, we finished right where we started our season at Eron’s Event Barn for Tyler & Emily’s wedding. Just like the start of our season, this wedding had 3 short months of planning and came together with all Tyler & Emily could have imagined! What a special, special day for two amazing people.
