On this last day. I want you to think about the wedding day itself. You want your wedding day to be a low-stress success.  We totally understand this, which is why we’d love to help you make the most of your wedding day experience and make sure you are prepared.  Here are our top tips to ensure you make the most of your wedding day.

20 Ways to Enjoy Your Wedding Day

Our most important tip. Relieve yourself of stress as much as possible the day of the wedding! (Easier said than done, I know!) The one thing that will make this day stand out from all of the rest is if you are having fun and are relaxed! Remember you have spent countless hours planning, but now it’s the day to enjoy and think about how excited you are to be marrying your best friend!

Be organized. Create a detailed schedule and send it to your wedding party and vendors prior to the wedding day. Be sure to add in some extra time in case of some schedule changes. This will help ensure that everyone is on the same page.

Get a good night of sleep. Go to bed at a decent hour the night before so you can be at your best.

Eat breakfast. First, do not make the mistake of not eating.  We understand you’ll be nervous and food will probably be the last thing on your mind, but eating right on your wedding day is a must.  If you skip breakfast and lunch and head straight for the champagne, you’ll wind up more buzzed than normal.

Give plenty of time to get ready. Think early. Like, really, really early. Let’s face it, your wedding is going to be a long (but awesome!) day, and there’s no such thing as starting the getting-ready process too soon.  You want to be able to relax and have an enjoyable time with your wedding party, not stressing over whether you’ll finish in time.

Make a list of all the things you need on the wedding day. Make a list for both of you of all the things you want to remember on the wedding day so you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything.  (ie.  forgetting the wedding rings!)  We have put together a checklist of items so you won’t forget a thing.  Enter your email and it can be sent right to your inbox.

Hire the best you can find. Choose wedding vendors whose work — and personalities — you’re comfortable with. Then, on the day of your wedding, relax and you don’t need to micromanage them. You’ve hired your vendors for a reason. Trust they know what they’re doing, and will do their jobs well!

If you bought new shoes for the wedding, be sure to break them in. With new shoes, you’re liable to walk awkwardly in them and have really sore feet – break in your shoes ahead of time!

Don’t overdo the perfume/cologne. Heavy scents can make you feel nauseous and even attract bugs.  Also, think about your guests that may be sensitive to strong scents.

Hire a wedding planner/coordinator, if possible. Couples often decide to cut this expense, but a wedding planner/coordinator will let you enjoy your day; taking care of the details so you can be in the moment.  If you can hire a wedding planner/coordinator, you can delegate those day-of logistics.

5 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner

Put your phone away. Nothing is happening that’s more important than your wedding day.  Have someone appointed as your message screener for the day.

Be flexible. Things aren’t going to go exactly according to plan on your wedding day and you’ve got to be willing to roll with it. Don’t let little changes ruin the whole day.  Keep in mind what really matters. Being flexible will keep you happy and positive all day long.

Stop to take it all in during the ceremony. Brides…before walking down the aisle…take a long pause and look at your groom just before walking down the aisle.  Even ask your officiant to include a “deep breath moment” so you can take it all in.

Make sure you eat at the reception. Taking the time to enjoy a full meal is almost impossible with so many interruptions and guests vying for your attention.  You will be hungry later!  Arrange with the caterers to send a couple to-go boxes of food with you when you leave the venue.  You’ll be glad you did it!

Give a thank you speech with your spouse. It’ll feel good to thank your parents, grandparents, and guests for making such a momentous occasion in your life possible.

Arrange for some fun group photos at the reception. Have the DJ call over college friends, coworkers, and teammates for a few quick group photos.

Be careful with alcohol. This is a day you’ll want to remember clearly for the rest of your life, so make sure you don’t drink too much.

Pack a pair of flats for the reception. Ballet-style slippers look great with a wedding dress, so bring a pair to put on when you want to cut loose on the dance floor.

Have a moment with each of your parents. Brides dance with their fathers and grooms dance with their mothers, but if there’s no moment on the schedule, make one.

Give the DJ a list of songs you want and be very specific. Make sure your DJ knows the songs you really, really don’t want to hear at your wedding.  You never know what your friends may request, and you’re better off making sure the DJ knows at the outset exactly what not to play.

Make sure you dance. Your favorite tunes are playing, the dance floor is packed with people you love, and you have reason to celebrate-SO DANCE!

Have a relaxed attitude about the wedding night. If fireworks explode, awesome!  But after a long day many couples collapse in exhaustion.  Don’t worry…there’ll be plenty of time for fireworks later.

Remember WHY you’re there. Amid all of the fun and celebration be sure to take a moment to look over at the person you’re pledging your life to and reflect on the incredible journey that lies ahead of you both.
